3D printer layer height: how to choose quality without wasting time
By Let's 3D Studio · 1 min read

Layer height is a trade-off between visible stepping, print duration, and the behavior of the chosen nozzle and material. Finer layers can improve curved surfaces and small details, but they also add many more moves and may not improve a surface that will later be sanded or painted.
Choose detail where it matters. A visible curved top may justify a finer profile, while hidden structural regions may not. Adaptive layer height can be useful when the slicer and model make it practical, but a consistent profile is often easier to validate for repeat production.
Run a comparison on the same model and keep the result near the printer. A physical reference helps you choose quality intentionally rather than automatically reaching for the finest setting.
